Join the Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce
Become a Chamber Member
To become a chamber member, you will need to complete our online Chamber Membership Application. We will review your application and email or call you with the amount of your Chamber Membership.
Applications are approved by the full Chamber Board of Directors on the second Wednesday of each month (except for August).
As you prepare to make a decision to join the Mexico Chamber, we would like to tell you about us and what your dues support. Much of what we do relates to the Mexico community - our job is to support the local business community and contribute to the improvement of our quality of life.
Our information and referral service has become our largest program. Information and referral include questions regarding the Mexico area, but when recommendations are sought for a specific type of business or service, Chamber members are given preference.
As the tourism center for Mexico, Missouri, we include many tourist requests in our referral service. We have also developed a relocation packet full of local information and helpful resources. While the Chamber of Commerce mails literally hundreds of these packets each year, it is also available to members for distribution to prospective out-of-town employees. Information and referral service is provided to residents, visitors, and out-of-town callers.
Mainstreet News, our monthly newsletter, keeps our membership informed not only about Chamber events and activities, but also keeps members and their employees abreast of what’s happening in the community. Our calendar inserts with listings for the current and next month is the only master event calendar for Mexico. You may also access our calendar on this website here.
To assist our members in the exchange of ideas and to become better acquainted with their fellow business people, we have regular Business After Hours events for our chamber members and the community. Newcomers to Mexico are welcomed to the area with a visit from our “Hello Mexico” hostess. Members have the opportunity to introduce their goods and services to persons moving to Mexico through small welcome gifts and coupons.
Each year the Chamber sponsors a number of events to recognize businesses and individuals for their contributions to the community. The Mexico Chamber of Commerce hosts the Commerce and Industry Appreciation Dinner, the Agricultural Appreciation Dinner, and the Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet. We also present a quarterly Excellence in Business Award.
The Chamber Ambassadors help with public relations for the Chamber and local businesses. They assist with Grand Openings, Ribbon Cuttings, and Tours, and award First Dollar and Progress Awards. Our Legislative Breakfast is held throughout the year with both state and national legislators invited to present their views on current affairs.
The Chamber, in cooperation with the City of Mexico, sponsors both the Adopt-A-Block program and the Adopt-A-Flower Bed program. We also sponsor the Farmers’ Market each Saturday from May through mid-October.
With the purchase in 1996 of the Chamber building, we have been able to broaden our services to members and the community. We act as a clearinghouse for the scheduling of special events. We serve as the official ticket agent for the Miss Missouri Scholarship Pageant, and most plays, dance recitals, and concerts. Registration forms for parades and contests are usually available at the Chamber, too.
The Chamber building is host to a variety of meetings each week for our members and numerous other clubs and organizations. Please call the Chamber at 573-581-2765 if you would like to reserve one of our two meeting rooms.
The Chamber works cooperatively with the business and professional community, the City of Mexico, Audrain County officials, the schools, churches, and clubs and organizations. We believe Mexico is a small-town success story because of the team efforts of concerned citizens, governmental officials and staff, and the Chamber. We will continue to be team players and will endeavor to keep our membership informed of what’s happening.
Chamber Governance:
The Chamber is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of officers, divisional vice-presidents, and twelve elected directors representing our membership.
The Executive Committee consists of the President, President-Elect, Immediate Past President, Treasurer, and Vice President of Operations. The four divisional vice-presidents include Operations, Community Betterment & Civic Affairs, Business Services, and Economic Development. The Honorary Board, representing the county and city government, education, and health care, keeps us abreast of relative events affecting Mexico. The professional staff includes the Executive Director and Administrative Assistant. The Hello Mexico representative and Volunteers are involved in the execution of Chamber activities and projects and also offer assistance to the staff.
